"These songs [I’m With You B-Sides] were always sort of kicking around, and we always intended on putting them out in one way or another. It’s not as much of a splash, but it’s really all working out for the better. To be honest, there’s certain songs that, when we initially came up with the sequence for the record, I was a little like, ‘Hmmm, we’re not putting that one on?’” - Josh Klinghoffer

Chad Smith talks to Rolling Stone about the soon to be released I’m With You B-Sides! New interview published today."We recorded a lot more music, and we just wanted them to be heard, and to find a home for them. In the past, you’d put B-sides on singles. But they can tend to get lost that way. And also, it’s just not the format these days … The sleeves of the records – there’s like a puzzle, and it’s all going to fit together. So these will probably stand on their own as the sort of lost-but-not-lost I’m with You record."Read more…

Hilarious new Rolling Stone Interview with Chad Smith!Have you ever met Will Ferrel?Actually, I did meet him once. It was at the premiere of Lady’s Man many years ago. I was in the food line after the movie and I was getting chicken skewers and shrimp cocktail or whatever. I’m filling up my plate and he’s filling up his plate, and there is this guy between us. I’m looking at Will and thinking, “People really think I look like him? I don’t fucking look like that.” So the guy between us splits and there’s nobody between us, and Will turns around. He looks me up and down and says, “You’re very handsome,” and walks away. Totally deadpan. I was like, “You’re funny. You’re funny.” Read the full interview here…

New RHCP Photo and brief article in the August 4th issue of Rolling Stone Magazine.

Rolling Stone Magazine, Issue 1136 – August 4th 2011 features a brief article about the new Red Hot Chili Peppers era by Rolling Stone journalist, Simon Vozick-Levinson.

Chili Peppers Restart the Groove Machine

It’s reassuring to realize just how little the chilis have changed in the five years since their last album – or in the the two decades since Blood Sugar Sex Magik, for that matter, so what if guitaris John Frusciante quit (again) during their most recent hiatus?

The remaining members seem to be the same lovable goofballs as always.

Their comeback single from their new album, I’m With You has everything you want from the Chilis: Flea and Chad cook-up a juicy funk-pop groove with plenty of cowbell, new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer kicks in some rangy riffs and Anthony Kiedis woos a wild child with the type of come-ons only he can deliver with a straight face (“ticktock, I want to rock you like the eighties”) before leaning into a huge, pleading hook. Welcome back, dudes.
