In response to the fatal shooting of unarmed Florida teen Trayvon Martin, the Red Hot Chili Peppers donned custom-made hoodies on stage in Tampa last night. The shirts bear Martin’s name and the phrase “Stand what ground” - a reference to Florida’s Stand Your Ground law, which states that deadly force used in self-defense does not necessitate arrest. The shooter, George Zimmerman, claims he shot in self-defense after telling police that Martin, who was walking down the street wearing a hoodie, looked “like he is up to no good.”
Flea tweeted the above close-up of the hoodie with the caption, “The hoodies we are giving away to friends in Florida who want em,” and later adding, “Sorry we only made a couple Hun of the hoodies to give away. Don’t wanna sell em. My little heart is happy people like em.”
Here’s a pic of the band in their hoodies on stage in Tampa last night, the opening night of their 2012 world tour. The tour was set to begin January 20, but was postponed after Anthony Kiedis sustained a pretty gruesome-sounding foot injury. The full schedule of U.S. and European dates is available here.

RHCP to Headline at the Bonnaroo Music Festival in June 2012
The Red Hot Chili Peppers are confirmed as headliners at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee on June 7th-10th, 2012. The exact date of their performance at the festival will be announced soon. Tickets on sale February 18th.

Anthony Kiedis’ mother happy RHCP are coming to Grand Rapids
Anthony Kiedis and the Red Hot Chili Peppers are set to play a concert at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan on May 26th, 2012 – and Peggy Idema couldn’t be happier.
“I’m very happy the guys are coming to Grand Rapids,” she said via email. “Not only will I get to see my son, but I’ll be able to see my grandson, too. It’s going to be a great year for me, as I will see them in a few weeks in California, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in April and now in Michigan in June. It doesn’t get much better than that.”

RHCP reschedule tour due to Anthony Kiedis injury
Red Hot Chili Peppers regret to announce that they must postpone the start of their upcoming 2012 U.S. I’m With You Tour due to multiple foot injuries sustained by Anthony Kiedis.
The tour was originally scheduled to begin on the 20th of January in Sunrise, Florida but will now begin on the 29th of March in Tampa Bay, Florida instead. All tickets for the postponed dates will be honored at the rescheduled dates.
